Museum Betina

In 1926 there was one big shipyard and nine smaller ones operating in Betina. Seven sailboats and five boats were constructed and 60 sailboats and 12 boats were fixed in those shipyards between October 31st 1926 and October 31st 1927. In 1926 there was one big shipyard and nine smaller ones operating in Betina. Seven sailboats and five boats were constructed and 60 sailboats and 12 boats were fixed in those shipyards between October 31st 1926 and October 31st 1927. Betina shipyards had a surface of 11200 square meters and all the other shipyards of northern Dalmatia put together had 10300 square meters. There were 169 workers employed in the shipyards of Northern Dalmatia, 60 of them working in Betina.

The action of the Museum of Betina wooden shipbuilding is directed at the preservation and promotion of traditional wooden shipbuilding. Activities include the Museum collection, manipulation, storage and presentation of tangible cultural heritage testifying shipbuilding and daily activities which is an integral part of a wooden ship.

The museum was founded with the goal of being the presentation institution that encourages local people to develop awareness of the value of the shipbuilding and cultural heritage, is a local tradition, is an educational center, organizes workshops through which to engage new generations of wooden shipbuilding, rich touristic offer of Murter and becomes information center of the local cultural heritage. The museum was opened on 14 August 2014.
